Stockholm

My co-sleeper had left the train in complete silence during the night (my snoring perhaps) and so I had the cabin to myslef for the 5 remaining hours to Stockholm. The countryside was beautiful and got more and more suburban until I finally arrived (and this is by GPS time) ONE SECOND EARLY!!! I headed for my hostel of which the main selling point is that it is partly on board a huge sailing ship. It has to be said however that finding it would have been a lot easier if someone had mentioned that the boat is away for a refit and the main building sits next to an empty pier. The friendly staff made up for the lack of floating acommodation and after ditching the bag I set about looking round what has to be one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. I opted for the lazy tour bus option and after 1 whole lap I spent the evening wandering round the incredible old town of Gamla Stan before indulging in authentic meatballs, mash and lingonberries, and a beer of course ;-)

My roommates were an Aussie couple and a student from Liverpool. The Aussies celebrated their 1st night in downtown Stockholm with an Italian meal leaving my scouse friend (From Birkenhead :-) and I to the best part of my 50% Swedish vodka. Only 1 complaint about the noise interrupted us before we hit the hay for another well earned sleep.
